Photography & Dogs Have Always Been Part of My Story
I picked up my first 35mm film camera in high school and immediately fell in love with photography. Right before digital cameras, Lightroom, and (thankfully) social media, I was learning to see light, tell stories, and create images that made people feel something.
I found myself working in animal welfare a couple years later where I discovered something powerful: a photograph could change a dog’s future. The right image could help someone stop scrolling, make a connection, and ultimately choose adoption.
I watched shy dogs find homes. Injured dogs get much needed medical donations, Senior dogs find families. Overlooked dogs get a second chance because someone saw a photograph and felt something.
From there, my career expanded into veterinary medicine, where I spent more than a decade caring for pets and supporting the people who loved them. Along the way, I also opened my home to hospice foster dogs, helping senior and medically fragile dogs spend their final chapter surrounded by comfort, dignity, and love.
Those experiences changed the way I photograph animals.
I know how quickly puppies become seniors. I know how deeply pets become family. I know that someday the photographs we create today may become some of the most treasured things we own.
That’s why my goal isn’t simply to create beautiful images.
It’s to preserve the personality, connection, and little details that make your pet uniquely yours.
Your dog doesn’t need perfect manners.
Really.
I don’t expect dogs to sit still for an hour or stare directly at the camera. Most of my favorite images happen when they’re exploring, sniffing, wagging, or simply being themselves.
veterinary experience means less stress.
I’ve spent over a decade working in veterinary medicine. I understand nervous dogs, senior dogs, reactive dogs, puppies, and the patience it takes to work with them.
Creating images that just feel real.
Some portraits will feel elegant and timeless. Others will be goofy and full of personality. The goal isn’t perfection—it’s remembering exactly who they were.
FOR THE HEART DOGS
Senior Dog Sessions
Our time with them is never long enough.
Senior sessions are intentionally slower paced and designed to celebrate the dogs who have been with us through every chapter.
Whether they’re still chasing tennis balls or moving a little more slowly these days, these sessions focus on preserving their story with patience, comfort, and dignity.
Because someday these photographs become priceless.
MY DOG WON’T SIT STILL, IS THERE HOPE FOR A SESSION?
Absolutely! In fact, most of the dogs you see in my portfolio aren’t sitting perfectly still for more than a few seconds at a time.
My approach is built around working with your dog’s personality, not expecting them to perform. Whether your pup is a busy explorer, a professional squirrel spotter, a senior who prefers frequent breaks, or a dog who isn’t comfortable around strangers, we’ll create a plan that works for them.
Before your session, you’ll receive a detailed questionnaire so I can get to know your pet—their personality, favorite treats, energy level, quirks, and any restrictions or concerns you may have. Together, we’ll plan the best approach to help your dog feel comfortable and set them up for success.
For safety, I actually encourage dogs to remain leashed whenever needed. Through careful posing and post-processing leash removal, your pup can stay safe while still looking like they have perfect recall in the final images.
The goal isn’t a perfectly behaved dog. The goal is photographs that feel like your dog.
